For the sixth consecutive year, USC Stevens Center for Innovation has hosted and awarded Technology Advancement Grants (TAG) to researchers at the University of Southern California.
This year’s TAG awards total $300,000 and will fund three projects in life sciences and physical sciences across a diverse range of fields at USC: Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, and USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience.

Project Title: “REINVENT: A low-cost, mixed reality neurofeedback system for stroke rehabilitation”
Travis Williams, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences
Project Title: “Commercializing Ethanol and Glycerol as Hydrogen Carriers”
Eun Ji Chung, USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience
Project Title: “microRNA-145 Micelles for Mitigating Atherosclerosis”
The TAG program has a competitive two-step application process comprising an initial review by Stevens Center staff and its Faculty Advisory Committee, followed by a final review and recommendation from an external advisory board of industry experts comprised of male and female representatives from Westlake Village Biopartners, Rivervest, Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Kairos Ventures, Law Offices of Snell & Wilmer, and Nixon Peabody. The USC Office of Research (OOR) also provided additional support.
The Request for Proposals for the next round of the TAG program will be announced in late 2022.
