Tran Courtney
Tran is the Associate Director, Marketing and Communications, and leads the strategic planning of marcom programs and events for the USC Stevens Center.
Working closely with USC leadership, Tran develops custom marketing plans to promote the university’s research and IP portfolio, industry partnerships, licensing, and technology commercialization. She is a Techstars mentor, counsels early-stage founders with their marketing strategies, and serves on several committees to expand the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Los Angeles area. Prior to joining USC, she spent seven years at Harvard Business School (HBS) managing their health care marketing initiatives, leading content creation, amplifying faculty research, launching the Kraft Precision Medicine Accelerator, collaborating with Harvard Medical School for the Health Acceleration Challenge, and advising HBS alumni and postdocs admitted into the Blavatnik Fellowship in Life Science Entrepreneurship program with their go-to-market strategy. In addition, Tran has held communication roles at The Aspen Institute, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Stampin’ Up!, and Connexity and discovered her passion for storytelling when she worked at a television station.
She received her BA in English and Marketing from Old Dominion University. Tran is an active member of the Association of University Technology Managers.
