Have You Developed a Clinical Outcome Assessment (COA)?

USC Stevens now offers a streamlined path to make your COA easier to distribute, license, and use worldwide.

What Are COAs?

Clinical Outcome Assessments are tools used to measure health outcomes directly from patients, clinicians, caregivers, or performance tasks in clinical or research settings. These may include:

  • Questionnaires and surveys
  • Patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures
  • Clinician-reported or observer-reported tools
  • Scales, indices, checklists, or scoring systems
  • Performance-based assessments
  • Digital or eCOA versions of any of the above

New Distribution Pathway for USC COAs

Through a new partnership with a global commercial distribution provider, USC innovators now have access to a professional infrastructure that:

  • Makes USC-developed COAs easier to find, license, and use worldwide
  • Reduces the administrative burden of managing licensing requests
  • Supports digitization, translation, and repository services

Do You Have a COA?

If you have created any tool used to assess symptoms, quality of life, function, behavior, or clinical outcomes, it is likely a COA—and USC Stevens wants to hear from you.

These instruments are copyrightable USC assets that may be eligible for licensing through our commercial distribution partner. Royalties are shared with creators under the USC IP Policy.
