USC Ranked 20th Among Universities Worldwide in U.S. Utility Patents Granted in 2013

USC Stevens is proud to announce USC has been ranked 20th among the top 100 worldwide universities in U.S. Utilities Patents granted in 2013. With patents issued to inventions originating from USC faculty and graduate students, USC claims a place among the top universities in technology transfer worldwide.

The list was released on June 10, 2014, by the National Academy of Investors (NAI)–a non-profit organization comprised of U.S. and international universities, governmental and non-profit research institutions, and individual inventor members. The NAI was founded to support and encourage the mission of technology transfer and aid inventors in translating inventions to benefit society. The data used by NAI to rank the universities was obtained from the U.S. Patent and Trademark office and encompasses the 2013 calendar year.

Patents protect the Intellectual Property of USC inventors, and allow USC Stevens to reach out to industry and get inventions licensed for real-world applications. Stevens is proud to receive this honor from the NAI, and continues its mission to maximize the translation of USC research into products for public benefit.
