The FrontlineSMS pilot program began in the summer of 2009. The 2010 Jaalaka team will work on improving existing components and adding an analysis component to the project. The team aims to develop the FrontlineSMS beyond the pilot stage and to be used by a greater percentage of the Jeevanmukhi, a community organization that is comprised of people living with HIV (PLWHA) in the Darwad district. The goal is to scale up the program from 32 PLWHA to 100, and to increase the number of trained staff from 5 to 15 in order to expand the capacity and impact of the FrontlineSMS program.

GOALS
- Minimize technical errors that arise during data transfers
- Streamline data transmission from multiple receivers
- Eliminate loss of data during transfers
- Simplify symbols and codes
- Expand the number of participants in the program through a comprehensive outreach campaign
- Increase frequency and variety of automatic reminders to participants (e.g. doctor visits, pick up meds, personal care tips/info, etc.)
- Improve training of non-profit staff members
- Recruit and train more peer health educators
- Update training manuals
- Establish a system of error reporting and find local partners/resources to provide technical assistance to address future technical issues
- Build partnership with LEAD students to provide technical support/consultation
- Explore methods for replicating program for other STIs or public health issues
