About USC Stevens Institute for Innovation
USC
Stevens Institute for Innovation is university-wide resource in the Office of
the Provost designed to harness and advance creative thinking and breakthrough
research at USC for societal impact.
USC
Stevens develops the innovator as well as innovations, through educational
programs, community-building events, and showcase opportunities.
USC
Stevens identifies, nurtures, protects, and transfers the most exciting
innovations from USC researchers, staff and students to market, and as a
result, provides a central connection for industry seeking cutting-edge
innovations in which to invest.
From
the biosciences and technology to music and cinematic arts, USC Stevens
connects faculty, students, and the business community to create an environment
across all disciplines for stimulating and inspiring the process of innovation.
USC
Stevens will grow to nearly 30 staff by 2008, encompassing the following
functions:
- Workshops, educational programs, student
groups, and resources in innovation
- Intellectual property advice, evaluation,
and development, and licensing; patenting and IP protection; and licensing for
any and all USC-owned IP
- Development of new interdisciplinary
partnerships to advance innovation across campus
- Information on volunteer, investment, and
sponsored research opportunities at USC
- Community-building events to connect
innovators and investors
