Associate Director, Corporate Collaborations, Life Sciences
Mina Zion, J.D. is Associate Director, Corporate Collaborations, Life Sciences at the USC Stevens Center for Innovation, where he works to build and facilitate industry sponsored research collaborations for USC researchers in the life sciences. Zion has over 10 years of experience across various industry and academic verticals, working to identify, evaluate and bridge research enterprises with industry collaborators. Most recently, Zion served as the founding director of the Rowan University Office of Technology Commercialization, serving New Jersey’s second largest public healthcare university. At Rowan, he established and developed formal relationships with GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, Stryker, Johnson and Johnson, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Zion also worked at Stevens Institute of Technology and the University of Delaware as well as with funded university startups. He also regularly advised Web App Clouds, a Philadelphia-based startup company that recently earned a $100 million valuation.
Prior to his career in academia, Zion was a Technology Scout and Product Manager for BASF Corporation as a member of its Future Business division. Zion earned a J.D. with a focus on intellectual property from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering from New York University. He is an active member of the Association of University Technology Managers and the Licensing Executives Society.
