Associate Director, Corporate Collaborations, Physical and Information Sciences
Lawrence Lau is Associate Director, Corporate Collaborations, Physical and Information Sciences at the USC Stevens Center for Innovation, where he works to build and facilitate industry sponsored research collaborations for USC researchers in the physical sciences. Lau has 10 years of experience in industry-university research collaborations, specializing in the physical and computer sciences. Before joining the USC Stevens Center of Innovation, Lau was a Licensing Associate at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, providing technology transfer and intellectual property management services in the areas of computational science, renewable energy, and material science. He was also Industry Relations Manager at the Industry Alliance Office at the University of California, Berkeley where he negotiated and created industry-sponsored research collaborations in engineering and the physical sciences, and served as the point of contact for industry to access UC Berkeley research.
Prior to his career in technology transfer, Lau was a hardware engineer in the computer industry. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an M.B.A. from the University of Victoria. Lau is an active member of the Association of University Technology Managers and Licensing Executives Society.
