Dr. Richard Hull joined the USC Stevens team with over 18 years of experience in start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures from the perspectives of investor, owner, CEO and consultant. As Senior Director, Richard supports the university’s strategic priority of meeting societal needs by promoting innovation and start-up creation in the life sciences. He works with Health Sciences Campus faculty, staff, and students to advance their ideas, manages the licensing and technology transfer program in life sciences with an emphasis on start-up creation, and develops the broader innovation ‘ecosystem’ to support these endeavors.Before joining USC Stevens, Richard assisted several early-stage biomedical companies formulate their strategies and access capital to execute them, including taking some companies public subsequent to private investment rounds. Prior, Richard served as CEO of Spotlight Health, a healthcare communications company specializing in celebrity-led health issue awareness campaigns, and as a Partner at Deloitte Consulting where he focused on innovation and new business creation. Richard is active in a number of non-profit organizations; most notably as a Board member of 2OP (a charity that encourages patients to seek second opinions), and as a Trustee of Echo Horizon School (a private elementary school that mainstreams hearing-impaired children). He has a Ph.D. in biochemistry from OxfordUniversity, and a B.A. in Natural Sciences from CambridgeUniversity. |
